Receipts
Fix a failed scan
What to do when a receipt can't be read: retry, upload it again, or enter the details yourself.
Sometimes a receipt can't be read, for example when the photo is blurry, cut off or very dark. Its row in the scan card at the top of your dashboard then shows Failed.
Your options
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Retry | Scans the same file again. You can retry each receipt once |
| Re-upload | Replaces the file with a new one, such as a sharper photo |
| Edit | Lets you type in the details yourself |
| Delete | Removes the expense and its file |
On a phone, these options are in the ⋮ menu on the row. After the one retry, Retry is no longer offered (on a computer the row shows Max retries reached): upload the receipt again or enter the details yourself.
A retry and a re-upload each use one of your monthly scans. See Files and scan limits.
Tips for a good scan
- Lay the receipt flat, in good light, and fill the frame with it.
- Make sure the total and the date are in the photo.
- Use one receipt per photo.
- For a long receipt, a PDF or a photo taken from a little further away works better than a crop.
Closing the card with failed rows
If you close the scan card while some rows have failed, Traackly asks whether to Keep & Close or Delete All Failed. Kept rows stay in your expense list, where you can edit or delete them later.
